Pittsburgh Protection Services Officers

PITTSBURGH PROTECTION SERVICES also sets an extremely high standard for employment. Below is a list of items that the applicant will need to provide prior to submitting an application with our company, as well as a description of the hiring/screening process:

  • Medical release from a licensed M.D. or N.P. indicating they are in good health and medically able to pass a physical assessment test.
  • A copy of their DD214 indicating military service or a copy of their law enforcement certificate. 
  • High School Diploma.
  • College transcripts, if any.
  • A copy of their self-defense certificate. (only for executive protection)
  • A copy of "D" license or Act 120
  • A copy of "G" license or Act 235
  • Verification of authorization to live and work in the United States.
  • Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
  • Verification of valid state issued firearms permit. (when required)

Our Screening Process

After submission of the above material, the company will review the material and contact the applicants who pass this step.  Applicants successfully passing each step of selection will be contacted and scheduled for the next steps.

The steps are as follows:
      1.   Application

  • Personal interview
  • Detailed background check. (which includes criminal, sex offender and DMV investigations)

Once applicants have submitted all necessary documents and passed the oral interview and physical assessments, all applicants must complete a written test administered by PPS and pass with a score of at least 80%.  These tests are given in series: Basic Protection Aptitude Test 1 and Advanced Protection Aptitude Test 2.  Written tests are also given for each Specialty Service, ex: Investigative Services, Executive Protection etc.

PPS requires each applicant to take and pass a comprehensive drug screen. 

Once an applicant has successfully completed the rigorous screening process, the new agent will begin the orientation process. Every new agent is educated in PPS policies and procedures, advanced training requirements, career advancement, ranking process, wages, dress codes, attendance, and reasons for disciplinary action.


BASIC OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS

                                                                       
Unarmed Officers

Our Unarmed Officers go through a 40 hour course that certifies them in Phase IV OC, Basic Baton, Basic Cuffing, and CPR/First Aid.

   
Level Two Unarmed (Protection Officer)

Our Level Two Protection Officer has no less than 3yr exp. in the Unarmed field. The officer is certified in Defensive Tactics, Phase IV OC, Advanced Cuffing, Advanced Baton, First Aid, CPR and AED, and 235 w/o the Firearms Stamp.
                                
Level One Armed

Our Level One Officer has no less then 3yr exp.in the armed field and must re-certify every year.  The officer is also certified in Defensive
Tactics, Phase IV OC, Advanced Cuffing, Advanced Baton, First Aid, CPR, and AED.

 

 

Level Two Armed

Our Level Two Officers must have over 5yr  exp. in one of the following fields: Law Enforcement, Military or High-Level Protection. All officers must re-certify every six months on their firearm and certify every year on their
advanced certifications. All officers must complete and pass an 80 hour course every year.

On site State Constable or Off Duty Police-
All officers are certified and carry insurance and bond. They must have no less than three years as a constable or law enforcement officer.  

 

Our Constables or Law Enforcement Officers are used when the property is unable to get 501(C)3 powers for its guards.
